Rebellious Grace: A brand with heart

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Rebellious Grace was founded in 2019 by Zoe, a former fashion designer who recognized a gap in the market for bespoke, accessible jewelry with a retail presence. Using her $5,000 in savings and maxing out a credit card, Zoe launched the brand with a pop-up store in Australia’s most awarded retail precinct: James Street, Brisbane.

The response was immediate, with the store selling out of stock in the first week. Since then, Zoe has reinvested every spare dollar back into the brand, and now, five years on, Rebellious Grace boasts two brick-and-mortar stores and has partnered with global brands such as Snapchat and Swisse Beauty.

The brand has evolved alongside Zoe’s design journey and exploration of metals. Starting with accessibly priced gold-plated jewelry in 2019, the brand now offers custom-made solid gold pieces under their own trademarked category 'Forever Finery.' Committed to sustainability, Rebellious Grace pledges to repair, remodel, and rework these pieces, reducing the landfill waste associated with cheap jewelry.

2022: BONDED™ IS LAUNCHED

Building on the deep connections fostered with clients in-store, Rebellious Grace expanded in 2022 to offer solid gold permanent jewelry services. The trademarked "Bonded" remains Queensland’s first and most established permanent jewelry stores and was the world's first use of 'Bonded' being referred to as permanent jewellery.

FOREVER A PASSION PROJECT

Five years on, Rebellious Grace still embodies the bootstrapped spirit with which the business started. Zoe continues to work across all tools: whether it's power tools for store fitouts, jewelry tools for assembly and production, camera equipment for shooting the brand's imagery, or diving into the back end of the website to tweak the code. The result of Rebellious Grace is truly a narrative of a creative being given free reign to thrive.

Staying true to the original store concept from 2019, Rebellious Grace stores continue to embody cozy, creative ateliers, with tools on display as all core pieces are still designed and assembled in-store by Zoe and her dedicated team. They use Australian-made components combined with specially sourced materials from Zoe’s extensive travels.
